Seen here are my drafts from the Water Color Juxtaposition projects (farther right is final draft) of the planet Saturn in a jar. In this project, we got 2 objects (alike or different) and put them in the same picture through the art of tracing and shading. Once we chose the 2 objects we traced them onto tracing paper in order for people like me who cant draw very well and made them look as precise as possible. Once we completed tracing the objects onto the tracing paper, we turned the paper over and started to shade the whole backside in order for the next step to operate. Since the backside was filled with pencil, we put that side onto the water color paper and re-traced with a ball point pen, in order to leave a slight trace onto the water color paper. Once we had a trace on the water color paper, we were able to fill in the lines with water color. After the first draft was complete (which took a while), I got 2 pieces of peer critique and 1 teacher critique. As shown above one critique was to make the lid of the jar more 3-D, like it did in the actual picture of the jar. Another critique I got was to tidy up the lines because I was a bit too sloppy with the first draft because I rushed towards the end to get critique.
Reflection:
I am very proud of my personal growth because I'm not very fond of art to begin with, but this style of art really gives me confidence to start art projects with less anxiety. Once I actually put all of the pictures down on the paper through tracing, I definitely felt satisfaction through the work I created. I definitely was guided by the critique and video because the critique helped me guide where my painting was going, while the video showed me that art doesn't have a strict rule you have to follow, while doing art. Overall I definitely feel like I like art a lot more because I see that there are many different styles of art and there is not one way to do art.
